Aachen, March 27, 2017 – Utimaco, a manufacturer of hardware security module (HSM) technology, offers a free simulator based on the new SecurityServer 4.10. It is optimized for securing cloud applications. The simulator works without any installations of hardware and is available for both windows and linux systems. The test package includes all administration and configuration tools as well as detailed instructions. It is now available for download free of charge.
Malte Pollmann, CEO of Utimaco, says: ″It is quite understandable that companies want to carefully examine a product before they decide to invest. The simulator is no doubt the simplest and most efficient way to get an idea of encryption via a hardware security module. We have been offering the simulator for prior versions of the Utimaco SecurityServer and received very positive feedback. Experience shows that using the simulator significantly influences the tester’s decision to integrate our modules into the IT security infrastructure.”
The simulator works without purchasing or installing hardware. It enables users to extensively test and evaluate the implementation of an HSM, for example by testing different configuration options and application settings or load balancing and high availability. The simulator can be integrated in third-party applications which offer standardized cryptographic interfaces such as PKCS #11, CSP/CNG or JCE.
Among others, the Utimaco SecurityServer 4.10 addresses cloud service providers who want to offer end users reliable and trustworthy HSM services. However, also companies requiring several tenants, for example to separately administrate keys of different business units, can benefit from the new functionalities. The main advantage of a cloud HSM is the ability to access information at any place and with any device – both from the own data center and via the cloud hosting partner.
